1 – PARC Museum – Paleo Archeo Center
The PARC Museum is a dynamic museum that tells the story of the area through its paleontological and archaeological evidence. The visit will be divided into three main sections:
- Paleontological Section: A journey into the past through the area’s unique fossils that tell the geological evolution of the area.
- Archaeological Section: With the reproduction of the famous Nuragic Well, a symbol of the Nuragic civilization.
- Educational Section: An interactive laboratory to explore topics related to paleontology and archaeology, also designed for family groups and children.
2 – Civic Museum of the Horse of Giara
A museum dedicated to the history and culture of Genoni, focusing on the deep connection between the community and the Giara Horse, a species native to Sardinia.
- Through Alessio Orrù’s photographs and Sergio Scavio’s documentary, we will explore life on the Giara plateau and the relationship between man and nature.
- The museum’s layout is enhanced by Pia Valentinis’ illustrations, inspired by interviews with village elders who lived through the war years.
- A demoethnoanthropology track, curated by Prof. Giulio Angioni, links the local to the regional, offering a unique insight into Sardinian culture.
3 – Duidduru Fossiliferous Quarry
An extraordinary paleontological site, where it will be possible to explore the wealth of local fossils, with the assistance of expert guides who will offer a detailed explanation of the formation of the site.
4 – Former Convent of the Observant Friars.
Visit to the former convent, now a place of cultural and historical interest. A quiet corner where you can relive the atmosphere of the past.
Exploration of the plateau, home of the Giara Horse, a unique natural environment. Here, the flora and fauna offer an extraordinary spectacle, with panoramic views that leave you breathless.
Possibility of Lunch at Agriturismo Cuaddus and Tellas
Possibility of lunch at a local farmhouse, where you can enjoy traditional Sardinian dishes in a familiar and welcoming environment.
