Specialized Team and Experience

Summer camps are supervised by a specialized team of staff available daily that includes, in addition to educators, an Archaeologist and a Geologist/Paleontologist. Summer camps are one-day, usually Saturday, three- to six-day full-board camps. Many years of experience in museum education confirms Juno Soc Coop as the specialist in museum education and applied science education.

Location and Facilities

The summer campus takes place in the territory of Genoni, in the various museum facilities managed by Juno Soc Coop and exploring the area, the Giara Park and for overnight stay at the Cuaddus e Tellas farmhouse.

Security and Insurance

All activities are carried out in the utmost safety, and in addition to the company’s normal third-party insurance, ad hoc insurance is taken out for each summer campus and date. For this purpose, it is always necessary to receive the completed registration forms.

Age of Participants at Science Campuses

Our summer camps for children in Sardinia are dedicated to young scientists ages 7 to 12, the perfect age to get excited about paleontology and archaeology through play and discovery.

PARC Museum Scientific Instrumentation

The PARC Museum provides participants with professional equipment for a unique educational experience:

  • Vibroincisors for fossil cleaning
  • Microchisels for precision work
  • Microscopes for the analysis of artifacts
  • Video projector for multimedia lessons
  • 3D viewers for virtual exploration
  • Sieves, brushes, chisels, and hammers for excavation simulations
  • Complete kit of the Little Paleontologist-Archaeologist

The kit used during the campus is included and can be taken home to continue the science adventure after the experience.

Our science summer camps in Sardinia combine theoretical and practical training through:

A Typical Day at the Summer Campus Between Paleontology and Archaeology

Day

Activities from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Morning

  • 7:30/8:00 a.m. - Wake up
  • 8:00-8:45 a.m. - Breakfast at Cuaddus e Tellas Farmhouse
  • 9:00-11:00 a.m. - Move to Geosite "Duidduru Quarry" for paleontological excavation simulation or to the area for archaeological excavation simulation
  • 11:00 a.m. - Snack
  • 11:30-13:00 - Museum activities: preparation and cleaning of geological or archaeological samples and analysis
  • 13:00-14:00 - Lunch at the museum

Afternoon

  • 2:00-3:30 p.m. - Relaxation time with documentary/movie or group games
  • 15:30-16:30 - Activities in the lab related to the topics covered
  • 16:30 - Afternoon snack
  • 17:00-18:30 - Outdoor activities: hiking in Giara Park, Nurallao forest or fairy tale forest in Pau
  • 19:00 - Showers and phone calls home
  • 20:00 - Dinner

Afternoon

Activities from 8:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

  • Until 11:30 p.m. - Group games in the square or suitable areas
  • If possible - Moving to Laconi for Escape Room
  • After 11:30 p.m. - Preparation for rest and overnight stay in dormitories
  • Overnight stays in 4/6-seater dormitories with bathrooms, divided by gender
  • Alternatives - Weather permitting: hanging tents in the Museum grounds.

Important Information

  • Supervision: Children are always supervised by at least two/three caregivers 24 hours a day
  • Transportation: Transportation is by two 9-passenger vans.
  • Night care: Operators present in the rooms or antechamber throughout the night
  • Flexibility: The program is subject to change based on weather and group needs

  • End: Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

Six Day Summer Camps

  • Beginning: Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.
  • End: Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Note: Camps are confirmed with a minimum number of 8 children.

Little paleontologist and archaeologist's summer camps

Summary of Summer Campus Costs.

The cost of the one-day camp is €45 per child and includes:

  • Lunch

The cost of the six-day camp is € 530 per child (€ 510 each for double enrollment same family, e.g., siblings/sisters, second consecutive year) and includes:

  • 6 lunches (may be packed lunches)
  • 12 snacks
  • 5 dinners
  • 5 overnights
  • little archaeologist and paleontologist kit
  • Continuous presence of educators/operators
  • registration fee
  • insurance

The cost of the three-day campus is € 280 per child (€ 270 each for double enrollment same family, e.g., siblings/sisters, second consecutive year) and includes:

  • 3 lunches (can be packed lunches)
  • 6 snacks
  • 2 dinners

Minimum and maximum number of participants

The Summer Campus is confirmed upon reaching 8 children enrolled. The maximum number for each one-day campus is 15/20 children, for three-day campuses it is 12/16.

Method of Enrollment

Limited places are available. In case of high demand, priority will be given according to the chronological order of receipt of registrations complete with all required documents.

Our staff members are available to update you on the enrollment numbers for each campus and to help you identify the date and group best suited to your child’s needs.

Documentation and Preparation

A 30% down payment is required with online booking. The balance will be due upon final confirmation of the camp.

When the reservation is completed, the system automatically generates the registration form with all the child’s data including allergies and intolerances.

The form should be:

  • Signed (handwritten or digitally)
  • Returned signed to be attached to insurance documentation (form can also be signed by hand at the beginning of camp)

Afterwards you will receive:

  • The complete list of essentials to bring
  • The list of discouraged items

Campus Photos and Memories

During the campus we take group and individual photos to document:

  • The activities carried out
  • Highlights of the experience
  • Small Paleontologist/Archaeologist graduation ceremony.

Image Release: At registration, permission to use photos is requested. At the end of the campus, all images will be shared with families in personalized folders. For children without releases, faces will be blacked out in group photos.

Frequently asked questions

Calls home are scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. In case the participant does not have a phone, he/she can use the camp phone.

Absolutely. Practitioners read child-friendly readings for the whole group.

Absolutely not, including those of the cell phone.

Yes, it is possible to bring the camera. The operators take photos of the activities of all the children and at the end of the camp send all the photos to the parents via email.
