Charter of Services and Rights of Museum Visitors <\/p>

This museum user’s charter of services and rights is inspired by the definition of a museum given in Legislative Decree. n. 41 of January 22, 2004 so-called “New Cultural Heritage Code” art.101, paragraph 2: “museum” a permanent structure that acquires, preserves, orders and exhibits cultural goods for the purpose of education and study. Every museum combines the duty of preservation with the mission of making it possible for the public to enjoy the cultural goods preserved there for educational, recreational, and public enjoyment. (Article 102, Legislative Decree No. 41, January 22, 2004).
The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities has issued a “Guideline Act on Technical and Scientific Criteria and Standards for the Operation and Development of Museums” (Legislative Decree 112\/98 in Art. 3 c.g; Ministerial Decree May 10, 2001) where VIII areas of museum operation are identified along with related minimum requirements and standars. In Scope VII, the museum’s relationship with the public is defined. The museum’s duty to ensure adequate services to the public, established by the standards translates into corresponding rights of the visitor who enjoys the cultural goods preserved in the museum.
This charter of services and user rights is also based on the indications from the Autonomous Region of Sardinia in Regional Law No. 14 of 20\/09\/2006 “Norms on cultural heritage, institutes and places of culture,” and in the quality objectives for museums contained in the “Guidelines for the recognition of museums and museum collections” approved by G.R. Resolution No. 36 of 27\/07\/2005 (henceforth “Guidelines”) and those of ICOM (International Council of Museums) in the definition of museum and code of ethics
The Visitor’s Bill of Rights underscores the fundamental and necessary relationship between the Museum and its public by making explicit and clearly stated the services and related levels of quality on which the Museum is committed to its users, in accordance with the relevant law

1. MISSION OF THE MUSEUM<\/strong>
To protect, investigate, conserve, enhance, exhibit to the public and promote the knowledge of the identity, ethnographic heritage of the area under its jurisdiction, the knowledge and care of the horse in general and the Giara horse in particular as well as the collection of ethnographic artifacts preserved in the Museum.
The Museum fulfills this “mission” as:
1. exhibition venue for the Archaeological, fossiliferous collections and educational laboratory;
2. venue for scientific research activities focusing on the Museum’s heritage and
historical and scientific evidence of the area and promotion of culture;
3. Contributing to the development of culture in general and reading, with special attention toward childhood;
4. home of cultural, training and educational activities that address different groups of users through seminars, conferences, “internships” and training courses, thematic lectures, guided tours. The school is its privileged user;
5. In its many activities it also makes use of the collaboration of Italian and foreign universities and research institutes, local authorities and Cultural Associations operating in the area. <\/p>

2. LEGAL CONDITION AND ORGANISMS OF THE MUSEUM<\/strong>
– The P.AR.C is located in the locality Santu Antine, sn, 09054, Genoni (SU), a building owned by the municipality of Genoni, protected under the current legislation on cultural heritage.
– Its collections are public cultural property owned by or under concession to the Municipality of Genoni.

– The P.AR.C, a permanent, non-profit body. The Museum is governed in its operation by the Bylaws and any internal rules and\/or regulations.
MUSEUM<\/strong> BODIES
– Museum bodies are regulated and described in the bylaws of the approved by the municipal administration resolution of 18\/10\/2013<\/p>

3.1 EXTERNAL ACCESSIBILITY<\/strong>
The Museum is accessible:
– by public transportation that has a stop at Rome Street
– by private transportation, in the immediate vicinity of the museum<\/p>

3.2 INTERIOR ACCESSIBILITY AND SAFETY<\/strong>
– Public spaces are adequate for access by disabled visitors with removal of architectural barriers and dedicated toilets
– Safe exit routes are identified and clearly marked
– Safety systems are in place for property and people<\/p>

3.3 INTERIOR SIGNAGE<\/strong>
– there are floor and room orientation plans at the entrance, indicating exhibition routes and signaling restrooms
– there are captions and panels to identify the works<\/p>

4. OPENING HOURS<\/strong>
Compatibly with the human resources made available, the Museum undertakes to extend the opening hours as much as possible, guaranteeing opening for 25 hours per week, including Saturdays and Sundays and major holidays.

Summer visiting hours are Wednesday to Sunday 10.00 a.m.-1.00 p.m. on Fridays\/Saturdays and Sundays, 4.00 p.m.-8.00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Mondays and Tuesdays closed but can be visited by appointment. During winter, the afternoon opening and closing are brought forward by one hour.<\/p>

5. METHODS<\/strong> OF ACCESS
Admission is charged: full ticket cost: \u20ac 3.50
reduced ticket: \u20ac 2.50 for all young people from the European Union aged between 18 and 25
Free admission for:
citizens of the European Union under 18 and over 65, school groups and their companions.
For exemptions or reductions for particular professional categories or days and initiatives defined from time to time by the Ministry, ask at the ticket office.

6. WELCOMING<\/strong> SERVICES
– HYGIENIC SERVICES for visitors, WAITING AND STAYING SPACES in the halls.
– ADDITIONAL SERVICES are present. They organize guided tours of the Museum for schoolchildren and groups, including in English.
– An EDUCATIONAL SERVICE is activated that develops projects and initiatives for the promotion and enhancement of the museum’s heritage and the local area in collaboration with schools, local authorities, the University and cultural volunteer associations.<\/p>

7. PHOTOGRAPHS<\/strong>
– Photographic or filmed reproduction of cultural property exhibited in the Museum without payment of charges is permitted only for strictly personal use and with non-professional instruments (see Regulations implementing Law No. 4\/93; Legislative Decree No. 41 January 22, 2004, Articles 107-109).

– However, reproduction must be authorized; therefore, visitors who wish to take photos or amateur footage of the exhibits must fill out the appropriate form to be requested from the managing body at the ticket office.
– Any other type of reproduction is subject to payment of a fee stipulated in the ministerial fee schedule for each type of reproduction.
– Applications for permission to reproduce photographs or film footage of exhibits for other than strictly personal purposes may be submitted to the Museum’s Secretariat Office.<\/p>

8. RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PUBLIC AND GRADUATION OF SERVICES OFFERED<\/strong>
– A Register of Suggestions and Complaints is available to the public at the ticket office and is inspected by Management;
– Questionnaires are periodically submitted to visitors to assess their enjoyment of the services offered and take suggestions;
– There is a commitment to preserve and protect the cultural heritage on display, to have it usable over time;
– Visitors are therefore asked to cooperate in this effort:
1. respecting the exhibits, without touching, soiling, altering or damaging them;
2. maintaining a behavior during the visit that does not disturb other visitors, speaking in a low voice and moving slowly from one room to another;
3. not smoking in the Museum;
4. turning off cell phones near security facilities;
